Dr. Nwachukwu was born in Lagos, Nigeria. After graduating from the prestigious College of Medicine, University of Ibadan in Nigeria, she moved to the United States to pursue a career in Internal Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. After completing residency, she worked as a hospitalist in Tennessee for a year while being involved in a biomedical research project on type 2 diabetes, with the Endocrine Division at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, TN. She completed her fellowship in Endocrinology at Washington University in Saint Louis, Missouri. After her fellowship, she practiced as an endocrinologist in Springfield, Illinois for a few months before moving to Texas to be with her family.
Dr. Nwachukwu is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. Her clinical interests include diabetes mellitus, obesity, thyroid disorders, pituitary disease, bone and calcium disorders. She is an active member of the Endocrine Society, American College of Clinical Endocrinologists and Texas Medical Association.
She enjoys spending her free time with her husband and her three boys. She loves cooking, reading and traveling.
