Coronavirus Disease 2019 Update

An open letter to all of our Endocrine Center patients

As questions and concerns arise about coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), we wanted to spend today sharing our policy surrounding the disease. In an attempt to protect all of our patients from community spread, we will begin phone screening patients during their appointment reminder phone calls. Any patients exhibiting flu-like symptoms like coughing, shortness of breath, sore throat, and/or fever in the past 21 days will be asked to reschedule their appointment. In addition, any patients who have done any international travel or domestic travel to affected areas in the same amount of time will also be asked to reschedule their appointments. But during this time, we understand that your routine endocrine-related care is still a priority and our staff and physicians will still be conducting telemedicine visits. Instead of rescheduling, we can still complete both telephone audio only visits and video/audio visits through another website we are using, doxy.me. For any questions on these processes, please reach out to us at 713-468-2122.

Resources in the Houston area

The Houston Health Department has opened a COVID-19 call center for all Houston residents who may have questions or need information about the disease. The number to contact them is 832-393-4220 and they will be open Monday-Friday from 9am to 7pm and Saturdays from 9am to 3pm. Voicemails left outside of those hours will be answered in the order of receipt on the next business day. Physicians and emergency rooms equipped to diagnose COVID-19 have asked that symptomatic patients and patients with a history of international travel should call ahead to tell staff about recent travel and symptoms so arrangements can be made to receive you.

The Endocrine Center is proud to be serving our community during this trying time and we can be reached at 713-468-2122 or on our website at www.endocrinecenter.com. For more specific information related to COVID-19, please direct your questions to The Houston Health Department at 832-393-4220 or on their website at www.houstonemergency.org/covid19.
